Want a great Christmas present? Check out the brand new ’Skiing Off The Roof’ book by author, Rick Walkom. This coffee table book on the history of skiing around Charlotte Pass Snow Resort is a very enlarged, updated edition and contains 450 wonderful photos, many in colour.

The book is a celebration of the history of snow sports in the magnificent Snowy Mountains – about the thrills, spills, conquests and catastrophes of the legendary pioneer skiers, snowboarders, adventurers, summer stockmen, environmental warriors, nature lovers, photographers, ski club members and mountain staff – the colourful denizens who have carved deep tracks on the frozen slopes around Charlotte Pass over the past century.

Rick Walkom arrived at Charlotte Pass in 1975 after completing university and keen to have a brief working holiday. It was not to be! This famous, snowbound outpost of winter sport on the roof of Australia seduced and captivated him and during the fifteen seasons he worked there he meticulously recorded its fascinating history.
